Darby Creek is a church on mission.
What does that mean? We believe that missions is not just something we "DO," it is who we ARE - we are a missional people!
Because this is true we seek to engage in missional activities that give us an opportunity to serve others through our finances, our time, our labor, our presence, and our prayers - both in our community and around the world!
We are committed to partnering with the larger Nazarene Church in engaging in missional activities around the world, and we are commited to partnering with organizations in our community in order to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our neighbors.
Here at Darby Creek we are focusing on a yearly cycle of missions so we can have a clear direction of needs, how we can fulfill them, and for what purpose. We want to be intentional and purposeful with our missional focus.
Here is a breakdown of our monthly missions focus:
JANUARY AND FEBRUARY - Alabaster Offering: This money goes to build churches, schools, hospitals around the world.
MARCH - Community Outreach: In March we hold our Community Spring Fest. This event is fun for the whole family! We have egg hunts, crafts, games, and so much more!
APRIL - World Evangelism Fund: During the month of April we focus on all of the places our World Evangelism Fund giving goes. (Missionary support, JESUS film, World Mission Broadcast, Work and Witness, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, Education, and so much more!)
MAY -
JUNE AND JULY - Community Outreach: Westfall School District. In the summer we partner with our local school system to provide food for the summer food program, backpacks and other school supplies, and so much more. This partnership does not just happen in the summer, we are working year-round to help meet the needs of our school, its students and their families.
AUGUST - Crisis Care Kits: during the month of August we collect supplies needed for Crisis Care Kits. These kits are sent all around the world to people who are experiencing a crisis. We've sent kits to refugee camps, communities recovering from storms, etc.
SEPTEMBER - Faith Promise: in September we focus on Faith Promise. Faith Promise is a program that helps us raise the funds we need in order to do the missions work God is calling us to.
OCTOBER - Community Outreach: Trunk or Treat. Trunk or Treat is a family fun activity - fun for all ages! Get dressed up, come get candy, have some fun, make some crafts, and eat some yummy food!
NOVEMBER - Community Outreach: Angel Tree. In November we provide Christmas gifts for children who have a parent that is incarcerated. We also connect with our school district to provide gifts for families in need.
DECEMBER - Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Offering: In December we help to raise funds for the NCM Christmas Offering. Each year the Nazarene Denomination picks an area of the world to focus on and provides funds for organizations and ministries around the world!
